Orville Houston Haggerton, 76, of Carol Stream died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002. He was born April 27, 1925, in Shay, Okla. He was raised in Oklahoma and New Mexico.

He served as in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, participating in action on Saipan and Okinawa.

He served as a corporal during the Korean War, participating in action in south and central Korea.

He married Josephine Biggers on June 10, 1946, in Modesto, Calif., and they resided in California until 1981. He earned a bachelor's degree from Stanislaus State College in Turlock, Calif., in June 1963 and taught elementary school until retirement.
