Melville was married twice. His first wife was Dessie Martin Barner. They were married from 1902 until after 1920 (showing up together in that census). He married Estelle Bailey Hudson Atkins 19 Mar 1927. Since Dessie lived until 1963, I believe she and Melville were divorced. In 1930 census, Dessie shows up with daughter Emma and Martin relatives, as being "widowed." Linda Farmer Ames #47026950
