Robert helped his father run the family farm in Verdery, South Carolina and was a member of the Auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World; which was established in 1891. It was first known as the Mystic Circle but the name was soon changed to Woodmen Circle. Many of these tree stump monuments stand 4 to 5 feet high and show sawed or broken limbs traditionally symbolizing a life cut short and bearing the motto, Dum Tacet Clamet which translates "Though Silent He Speaks."
Robert Lowry Muse died in Augusta, Georgia on August 6th 1911 at the age of 30 years, 4 months and 6 days. He was buried in the Muse family plot at Cedar Springs A.R.P. churchyard cemetery.
