Walter Lee Horn Dies Saturday from Truck Injuries
The injuries received by Walter Lee Horn proved fatal when death came at 1:35 a.m. Saturday in the Madison County hospital where he was brought after being hit by a pickup truck near Normangee, October 6. Walter Lee, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Horn of Normangee, never regained consciousness after the accident. He had gotten off the school bus at his home and was crossing the road to look in the mail box when the truck hit him. He suffered serious head injuries, a broken right leg and internal injuries.
Beside his parents, he is survived by one sister, Flossie Maurine; five brothers, James Wallace, Herman Lewayne, Robert Earl, Donald Ray and Larry W. Horn, all of Normangee; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Henry of Mormangee and Mrs. L.M. Horn of McCroy, Ark.
Funeral services were held at the Hopewell Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. James Lamberth, pastor of the Normangee Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery under the director of Cozart Funeral Home of Normangee. Pallbearers were Thomas Taylor, Marvin Newton, Wayne McKnight; and Robert Collier.
