His Gainesville Sun Obit states that he was the Chief of medical illustration at the VA hospital and a Sunday school teacher for 36 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 326th Airborne Medical Co. of the 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was taken as a prisoner by the Germans.
