Benjamin was the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Betts) Harris. He married Mary Ann Runyon. They lived at 817 S. 8th St in Camden. Benjamin was employed for many years by Anderson Canning Co. When the Camden branch of the company closed they transferred to San Francisco, California and continued working for Anderson Canning. In 1906 Mary Ann went back home to Camden to help her daughter, Elsie, who was pregnant. Benjamin gave up their apt and moved in with friends. The great earthquake struck and the apt they had been living was demolished. They returned to Camden, NJ after Benjamin retired. They had four daughters; Mabel E. 1880, Emma S 1883, Elsie 1885, Eva May 1890.
