JOHN MCCAFFERY

John McCaffery, life long resident of the North Fork, died at his home in Southold on November 14th following a short illness. Mr McCaffery was born in Cutchogue, November 4th, 1873, the son of the late Bernard and Mary Kane McCaffery.

Mr McCaffery was a member of Stirling Council, Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society of St Patrick's Church, Southold.

A requiem mass was offered at St Patrick's Church on Saturday, November 17th. Interment was in St Patrick's Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Mrs Julia Fogarty McCaffery, seven daughters, Mrs Mary Muller of Center Moriches; Mrs John Hayes, Mrs Clement Powers and Mrs Louis Seltman, all of Brooklyn; Mrs Norman Penny of Flanders; Miss Julia McCaffery of Southold and Mrs Francis Strasser of Southold; two sons, Martin McCaffery of Southold and J Arthur McCaffery of Greenport; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandson; three sisters, Mrs James Lenahan and Mrs Thomas Shalvey of Cutchogue and Mrs William Heaney of Greenport; and two brothers, Felix and Thomas Mccaffery of Cutchogue.

The entire community extends its most sincere sympathy to the family in their bereavement.
