Wallace Dean Whiting, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away of natural causes on November 22, 2010. Dean was born June 20, 1930, in Red Mesa, Colorado.
He served in the Air Force and served two LDS missions to Tahiti, the second one with his wife, Ethel. He married his sweetheart, Ethel Jensen, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1956, and together they had six daughters.
In many ways, Dean was larger than life. He owned a construction company and built churches and schools throughout the intermountain west. He had a pilot's license and flew his own small plane. He raised race horses and show horses. He was very active in the LDS Church, serving as Bishop of the Taylorsville 2nd Ward and working with the youth. He worked hard and gave quiet service throughout his life. He is loved deeply and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughters: Christine Gundersen, Mary Ann Forgie, Teresa Whiting, Nina Sue Amott, Jeannette Phelps, and Denise Moyer; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
