At the time that the Ruhr family home was built (1929-1930), Mr. Ruhr was the "Manager" of the flour mill, in Hastings, Minnesota. According to early (1910) census data, it appears that Martin Ruhr began his career at the flour mill as a bookkeeper, and was then promoted. Census data shows that in 1940, Mr. Ruhr was employed as the "Superintendent" of Flour Mill.
