Rees B. Griffiths was a trail forman working on building the South Kaibab Trail leading from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River. He was killed by a mammoth boulder that was loosened from a blast excavation he was inspecting. He is buried on the north side of the Colorado River just off the South Kaibab Trail, about 500 yards west of the Kaibab suspension bridge.
