SERVICE IS SLATED FOR RUBY BROWN

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby P. Brown, 70, of Harper Heights will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.

She died in a local hospital at 3 p.m. Wednesday following a short illness.

A resident of Raleigh County for the past 52 years, she was a member of the Harper Height Missionary Baptist Church. Born March 28, 1901 at Alderson, she was a daughter of the late Zachary and Verlie Ballengee Smith.

Her husband, Sam Brown, died March 9, 1959.

Survivors include five sons, Lawrence, Virginia Beach, Va., Gilmore (Bobo), Norfolk, Va., Jack, stationed with the Air Force in Korea, Billy, a patient in Walter Reed Hospital, Baltimore, Md., and Jimmy Brown, Jonesboro, Ark.; seven daughters, Mrs. Ruth Bryant, Mabscott, Mrs. Anna Lee Bailey, Daniels, Mrs. Mary Alice Bonds, Brunswick, Ohio, Mrs. Mae Zimmerman, Harvey, Ill., Mrs. Wanda Lively, Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. Vivian Rubin, Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Charlotte Poole, Beckley; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Thompson, Beckley, Mrs. Josephine Clyburn, Harper, and Mrs. Clarcie Daniels, Daniels; a brother, Earl Smith, Skelton; 30 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

The body will remain at the mortuary where friends may call after 5 p.m. today.
