Mrs. Margaret F. McGonigle age 81, died Thursday, November 13, 1980 at her home in Sun Prairie. She was born in Sun Prairie on August 10, 1899 and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. McGonigle served as Post Mistress from 1936 until her retirement in 1966. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and it's St. Anne's Altar Society, the St. Elizabeth Aid Society, and the Marian Circle. Mrs. McGonigle was also a member and past president of the Church Counsel, served as church organist for seven years starting at age 13. She was also a member of the Library Guild, the Madison Catholic Women's Club and the Seeds of Faith Charismatic Prayer Group, other memberships include a charter member and past President of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 333, a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and one of the early members and supporters of the Sun Prairie Ground Hog Club a member and former Secretary of the Wisc. Chapter of the Assoc. of the Post Masters, a member of the National Catholic Society of Forresters. Mrs. McGonigle was Chairman of the Sun Prairie Polio Drive for a number of years. She also served on a number of Madison Catholic Diocesan Committees and was a first Sun Prairie Colonial Club Center Director. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mariorie White of Closter, NJ; a son, Neal of Sun Prairie; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Thomas and Bernadette Voelker both of Sun Prairie; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, an infant son, and her borther, Msgr. John Voelker. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 16 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Father Peter G. Pagan will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. Friends may call at the Tuschen Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Saturday where Legion Auxiliary Services will be held at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. WSJ 11/15/1980
