John M. McGonigle, 73, a Sun Prairie resident since 1921, a pharmacist and the husband of the postmistress here, died Sunday night, Sep. 12 in a Madison hospital. He was owner of the drug store here, which bears his name. Mr. McGonigle had been active in state and local Democratic Party affairs. He was born at Jackson, NE and was married in 1920 to Margaret Voelker of Sun Prairie. He was a graduate of Creighton University, Omaha, NE. Mr. McGonigle was a World War I veteran and a member of the Sun Prairie American Legion Post, Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, and of its Holy Name Society. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Edgar White of Closter, NJ; a son, Neil, 116 W. Kohler St.; three brothers, Dr. B. E. McGonigle of Compton, CA, Victor McGonigle of Richmond, CA, and Lee McGonigle of Baraboo; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Tuschen Funeral Home and at 10 in Sacred Hearts Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. Joseph Behrend, James Reininger, Donald Greenberg, Paul Krebs, Paul Stegerwald, and Ernest Hillenbrand.
