YADKINVILLE - Napoleon "Poe" Allison, 92, died Wednesday,November 10, 2010 at the V.A. Hospital in Salisbury. He was born June 8, 1918 in Statesville to Durgerthis Allison. Mr. Allison worked for Yadkin Lumber Company for over 47 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II in the European Theater and receiving several decorations including 3 bronze stars. Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude Carter Allison in 1994; and by his son, Nathaniel "Nathan" Allison in 1995. Surviving are his grandchildren, Kevin (Lynn) Long of East Bend; Dierdra Williams of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren including, Heather Long, Ameshia Long, Kedrick Long, and Scott Wilson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A Graveside Service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like to express their gratitude to Charles Dinkins, Ann Park, Carolyn Long, Rick and Sue Matthews for all the loving care given to "Poe".
