WESTERN NEW YORKER January 23, 1919:
Bert L. Blowers went to Camp Upton, L. I. on February 7, 1918 and sailed overseas the following April. He was engaged in some of the fiercest battles of the war. Although gassed and wounded, his letters home told the family not to worry he was healing. All were looking forward to his return when notice of his death arrived casting a gloom over the whole community.
WYOMING COUNTY TIMES February 6, 1919: Memorial services were held at the North Gainesville Church in honor of Bert L. Blowers who died in France December 12, 1918 of pneumonia.
WESTERN NEW YORKER June 1922:
Bert L. Blowers, son of Kleber A. Blowers of Rock Glen, a private in Company K, 307th Infantry, A. E. F., died from bronchial pneumonia at the base hospital in Chaumont, France on December 18, 1918. He was born in Gainesville on June 12, 1890. His remains arrived Saturday, June 4th and were taken to North Gainesville Methodist Church, Tuesday, escorted by the Walter Klein Post, American Legion. Funeral services were held with Rev. O. C. Baker officating, his body laid to rest in the North Gainesville Cemetery with honors. He is survived by his father, Kleber Blowers; his sister, Kitty Blowers; his brothers, Ivan and Floyd, all of North Gainesville and his brother Mila of Buffalo.
