Ora Inez McKinney, 89, Nocona, TX passed away on September 3, 2002 in Nocona General Hospital.

Mrs. McKinney was born October 28, 1912 to Tommy Lee and Dona Bell Shaw Peeler in Cumby, TX. She was one of nine children. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, TX and a member of Billy Peelers Melody Five, which was the top Swing Band in the Wichita Falls area in the 1940s. She was a homemaker, retired Silk Finisher for Nobby Cleaners and a musician. She married Harry Louis McKinney on October 9, 1944 in Montague, TX. They spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army and traveled worldwide.

Graveside services for Mrs. McKinney were held on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery in Nocona, TX with Rev. Darius McKay officiating. Services were directed by Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Lee Petty, Nocona, TX; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Green, Wichita Falls, TX; one granddaughter, Kimberly Flowers, Nocona, TX; one grandson, Kevin Petty, Nocona, TX; three step-granddaughters, Camille Howard, Altus, OK, Michelle Teague, Noble, OK and Kizzy Petty, Childress, TX; three great-grandchildren, Cody Flowers, Trenton and Courtney Petty, all of Nocona, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Harry L. McKinney in 1963.
