STAUNTON:

Betty Jane (Douglas) Anderson, 64, wife of Wayne W. Anderson of 2002 First Street passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at Augusta Health.
Mrs. Anderson was born March 3, 1946 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Larry and Bessie Lee (Ransome) Douglas.
Betty retired from Western State Hospital on July 1, 2010 where she had worked for thirty years in the Admissions Treatment Center as a Team Leader. Betty graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Mary Baldwin College and Blue Ridge Community College. She was a member of Hatton Pond Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft, she was an avid Longaberger Bingo player, loved the Washington Redskins and enjoyed working with crafts. She always looked forward to decorating for Christmas and loved every moment she could spend with her grandson and family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Douglas and two sisters, Mary E. Johnson and Ruby D. Smith.
Surviving in addition to her husband of forty years are two daughters, Sharen M. Anderson of Staunton and Karen A. Jones of Highland Springs, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda M. Darcus and her husband Tommy of Staunton and Delores E. Randolph and her husband Purcell of Fishersville; a grandson, Caleb B. Jones and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 in St. Paul's United Methodist Church by Pastors Eddie Harris, Michael Turner and Albert Walker.
The family will receive family and friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Anthony Darcus, Tyrone Darcus, Curtis Stilley, Johnny H. Simonetti, Albert Timberlake, Shaun Waters, Tony Smith and Brian Kiernan.
Honorary pallbearers will be her former co-workers of Western State Hospital.
It is suggested those so desiring to make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 4271 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or the American Cancer Society, 1920 H Medical Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
