Ronald Charles Hill, 71, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2005. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Helen (Chola); his son, Dr. Scott F. Hill; his daughter, Dr. Robyn A. Hill, and four grandchildren, Brandon D. Hill, Jaclyn M. Hill, Gavin B. Hill, and Adam S. Hill.

Ron was born on March 13, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Frank A. Hill and Helen Hill (nee Kiel). He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1953 and subsequently served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged from active duty in 1956, he was employed as a supervisor for C & P Telephone Company of Maryland and then as the assistant to the President of Friedrich and Dimmock, Inc. of Millville, NJ. In 1963, he became the National Sales Manager for Dico Side-o-Matic in York, PA, prior to his promotion to General Manager in 1967. In 1970, Ron was appointed President of Stahl Metal Products Division of Scott & Fetzer in Cleveland, OH. He returned to Lancaster in 1972 after purchasing Lancaster Truck Bodies, where he retired as Chairman of the Board in 1998. Among his professional activities, Ron served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Truck Body and Equipment Association, a Member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the National Truck Equipment Association, and a Member of the Board and Vice Chairman of the National Federation of Independent Business in Pennsylvania.

True to his belief that it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive, Ronald C. Hill was an active member of every community in which he lived, serving as a Member of the Board of the York Jaycees, Member of the Fundraising Committee of the Lancaster Chapter of the American Red Cross, and a Member of the Board of LUMINA. From 1991 to 1998, Ron served as Chairman of the Development Committee of Millersville University. In the spirit of "service above self", Ron was an active member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster for more than 30 years, where he served on many committees, as a Member of the Board, and as President.

A 10 time Pall Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation, Ronald C. Hill was recently recognized as a major donor and awarded a special pin and crystal sculpture. On January 12, 2005, Ron was presented with Rotary International's prestigious Four Avenues Citations for his many contributions to his club, community, profession, and the world. For many years Ron showcased his creative side through singing Barbershop Music in the Lancaster Red Rose Chorus, where he also served as a Member of the Board and as President. Ron was a member of the Hamilton Club of Lancaster, Meadia Heights Golf Club, and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was active as a researcher at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, PA and became an expert on the Hamilton Watch Company.

Ronald C. Hill was a long time member of St. James Episcopal Church. In 1979 he became a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church, where he was also Senior Warden. Subsequently, Ron joined Covenant United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the Church Council and the Chairman of the Building Fund Raising Committee. For the last several years, he worshiped again at All Saints Anglican Church.

Though his accomplishments and activities show some aspects of who Ronald C. Hill was, his greatest successes were more private. Throughout his lifetime he built many enduring friendships, a strong marriage, and a loving family. His warmth, wisdom, guidance, good humor, stories, and devotion will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, until we meet again, through God's grace.

A service of Christian Burial will held at All Saints Anglican Church, which meets at St. John Lutheran Church, on 223 W. Orange St.. on Thursday, February 24 at 10:30 A.M. Friends may call at the All Saints Anglican Church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service
