Enlisted for the duration of the war on 7/15/1861 at Sparta, he was mustered into Company K, 15th Georgia Infantry as a Private.
Admitted with gunshot wound on 9/4/1862 into C.S.A. General Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.; transferred 9/5/1862 to C.S.A. General Hospital, Lynchburg.
Present on all rolls until Nov & Dec 1863 Roll when listed as "Absent, Sick at Hospital."
Mortally Wounded In Action 5/6/1864 in the Battle of The Wilderness.

The 15th Georgia Infantry Regiment, organized in the spring of 1861 at Athens, Georgia, contained men from Hancock, Stephens, Elbert, Lamar, Warren, Wilkes, Taliaferro, and Oglethorpe counties.
