Mary Louise Sloan is the daughter of Jessie Carney Sloan (b. 1888) and Mary Elizabeth Leaver (1891-1978). She married George Weaver Porter (1912-2005) on 16 Sep 1944 in DeKalb County, Georgia.

OBITUARY: Thomaston Times, Upson County, GA 11 Sep 2002:
Internment services for Mrs. Mary Sloan Porter, 88, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at 5 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Porter died Aug. 26, 2002. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Coronado United Methodist Church, the new Smyrna Beach Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Sloan of Thomaston. Survivors include her husband, George Weaver Porter of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a son, Kenneth Porter of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and Dr. Sam and Carolee Porter McKinstry of Johnson City, Tenn.
