Mr. Fred Harrison, age 78, of Shelbyville, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at Bedford County Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 1 PM, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Crowell's Chapel Cemetery in the Halls Mill Community.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 from 4-8 PM, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born May 23, 1930 in the Wheel Community of Bedford County, to the late Frank O'Neal Harrison and Martha Gladys Wortham Harrison. He taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church. He also owned and operated Fred's Bookkeeping and Tax Service for 40 years. He was a skilled furniture maker and a school teacher. He was a member of the City Council for two terms, on the Board of County Commissioner for 12 years, he was a member of the Breakfast Rotary. He was a board member for the Senior Citizens, Solid Waste Authority, Tennessee Vocational Rehab, a Mason, and an auditor with the Tennessee Comptroller office. He attended First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Douglas Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Harrison, of Shelbyville; three daughters, Kenda Harrison, Cindy (Bill) Herring, and Becky Williams, all of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Stasha McConnell, Chris Fox, Dawn Dye, and Scott Buie; five great grandchildren, Avery McConnell, Jason Fox, Josh Fox, Dominic Buie, and Kayleigh Dye.
