Opal Pearl Burns, 85, of Terra Alta, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at her home.
She was born Nov. 3, 1923, at Saltlick, a daughter of Walter Earl and Myrtle A. Cramer Masters.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. She retired from Hopemont State Hospital in 1985. She loved caring for her family and friends, and was "Grandma" to all who knew her.
She is survived by three sons and spouses, John M. and Mary Burns, Chester E. and Linda Burns, William E. and Kathryn Burns, all of Terra Alta; two daughters, Wanda L. Lewis of Essex, MD, and Betty L. Napper and spouse Delbert of Terra Alta; a brother Edward Masters and spouse Clara of Hanoverton, OH; a sister, Betty McVay of Fredericksburg, OH; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Chester M. Burns; two sisters, Arvella Holderbaum and Willavean Hartsell; and a son-in-law, Charles Lewis.
Friends will be received at Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Monday, August 10, and at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, until the 12 noon time of service with Revs. Stanley Waybright and Roy Mick officiating. Burial will follow in Pine grove Cemetery.
