David H. Tipton, a well known P.R.R. machinist, dropped dead of heart disease, at 11 o'clock last night, while tending the furnace at his home, 707 Nineteenth street. Mr. Tipton was the father of Vernon Tipton, the young Altoona athlete who was drowned at Vineyard just three months ago Tuesday. The deceased was born at Fostoria December 12, 1855. He had been a resident of Altoona nearly all his life, and was the son of the late E.B. and Anna Tipton, his father being one of the first funeral directors in this city. David H. Tipton was employed as a machinist in the Twelfth street shops. He was affiliated with White Cross lodge, Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife, Clara V.; three children, Catherine, Margaret M. and Arthur L., all at home; one brother, L.C. Tipton, of this city and one sister, Mrs. A.M. Miles, also of Altoona. Funeral services will be held at the house at 10 o'clock Monday morning, followed by interment in Fairview cemetery.
