Anna Elizabeth Stafford (nee Kolar), age 96, of Plainfield, died December 26, 2009, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born July 1, 1913, to Jacob and Mary Kolar in Lemont. She lived in Plainfield since the early 1940's. Anna was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur E. Stafford on May 27, 1939. Anna worked for Clegg Nursery, the A&P grocery store, and thirty years for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Church and the Bunco Club. Anna was an avid traveler with her husband and daughters. She was devoted to her family. She loved to play cards, crochet, sew for her family, play cribbage with her grandchildren, and "take a ride". She was a wonderful friend to many, often playing bingo at the Machinist Hall and Lockport and Plainfield American Legion halls. Anna was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Betty (Larry) Ellis of Normal and Mary Therrien of Plainfield, and her son, Art (Sharon) Stafford of Joliet. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Dale (Kathi) and Doug Therrien; Roger, Ron (Linda), and Ray (Karen) McCluskey and Patty (John) Ledbetter; Kim (Dennis) Lewin, Kris (Mike) Bedenian, and Kari (Charlie) Dupin; Arte (Katie) and Aaron Stafford and Amy (Travis) Stafford Munson. Also, 24 great-grandchildren, Natalie (Tony) Castaneda and Gordon, Derek, and Emilie Therrien; Jason, Clinton, Caytin, and Cobe Lewin; Alexis Prieboy and Logan Bedenian; Dominic Miceli and Cameron Dupin; Adam, Alex, and Tyler McCluskey; Kyle, Ryan, and Rachel McCluskey; Bill McCluskey; Hailey and Sydney Ledbetter; and Ryan, Henry, and Abby Stafford. Anna is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur (1987), her daughter Judy McCluskey (2000), infant grandson Robert McCluskey(1962), and by her father, Jacob Frank Kolar (1958), mother Mary Rose (1955), brothers Ralph Andrew (1919), Walter John (1974), and Edward Francis (2006) and sister Margaret Eva Freehauf (1979). Visitation will be Thursday, December 31, 9:00 until 10:00 AM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home, Plainfield. Prayers 10:00 AM from the funeral home proceeding to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Interment will be private. For those considering memorial contributions, Masses are preferred.
