BLACHLY--The funeral will be held Jan. 2 for Edwin Lee "Barney" Owens of Blachly, who died Dec. 29 of age-related causes. He was 81. Owens was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Anniston Ala., to Calvin and Ollie Hess Owens. He married Margaret Wolfe in Eugene on April 16, 1942.
He grew up and graduated from high school in Anniston. He moved to this area in 1938. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Hult Lumber Co. and American Can Lumber.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and watching sports particularly football. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; two daugthers, Carrie Haskins of Eugene and Denise Fisher of Blachly; a son, Lee of Deadwood; a sister, Wilma Rosell of Anniston; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Junction City.
