Thomas J. Young was the son of William and Sarah (Renear) Young (she was b. 1801). He had at 4 brothers: Samuel 1819, John C. 1820, Charles R. Young 1824,and William H. Young 1829 and 2 sisters Lydia Ann and Elizabeth. Thomas married Elisa A. Silver in 20 Jun 1853 in Port Elizabeth, Cumberland Co., NJ. They had a son Edwin W. born 17 Nov 1853. He was recruited on 29 Feb 1864 and served in Company A 12th NJ Volunteers during the Civil War. He learned to blow glass at Port Elizabeth. According to the 1880 census Thomas was a glassblower in Clayton, NJ. In 1880 their other son, Isaiah S., who was born 1857 in PA and married to Mary E. born 1858 and the two grandchildren; Bertha 1878 and Harry 1880 were living with them. In 1910 after Thomas died of Apoplexy Eliza lived with her son Isaiah
