James V. Taylor, 73, Effingham, Illinois, died at 1:40 p.m.Saturday, January 3, 2004, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham with military rites. Memorials can be made to the Taylor family.

Mr. Taylor was born December 14, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of George and Anna Taylor. He married Lorelei Field in 1952. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1998.

He was a retired pressman for World Color Press, Crossroads Division, Effingham. He was a lifetime member of Effingham American Legion Post 120 and 40/8, a member of Effingham Elks Lodge 1016, and Effingham Moose Lodge 502. He was aU.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his sons, Kyle (wife, Terri) Taylor, Brian (wife, Evelyn) Taylor Sr. and Eric Taylor, all of Effingham; daughters, Nena Taylor of Effingham, Patty (husband, Gill Sr.) Ballmes of Fisher and Michelle Gorman of Alma; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grand-children .

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, one son and two brothers.
