They had six children in 20 years. She died on May 11, 1897, in Michigan at the age of 73, and was buried in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Sarah and her husband may have lost three of their sons before their own deaths. Milton, aged 5 on the 1860 Census, and not seen again on another, Charles, who died in an accident at age 20, and Franklin, who died at age 23 of consumption.
