Artemisia Morris Stone, the oldest of the 13 children of Holland Morris and Sarah English or Inglish, was born on December 23, 1802 in Virginia. The family had settled in Grayson County, Kentucky before the 1815 Tax List.

Artemisia Morris married Hosea Stone, son of William Hosea Stone and Lucy Trammel, as his second wife on May 28, 1826 in Grayson County. At that time she became the stepmother of his children by his first wife Elizabeth Weedman. The children were: Louisa, Malinda (m. William Collard), Nancy Jane (m. William Duggins), Matilda , John M. (m/1. Hetty Weedman, m/2. Martha J. Tibbs, m/3. Nannie King), and William Trammel Stone (m. Elizabeth Kimble).

Artemisia Morris and Hosea Stone were the parents of the following children born in Grayson County:

Hosea Stone died at the age of 71 years and 23 days on April 14, 1863. Artemitia died at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 17 days on December 10, 1870. They are both buried in the Stone's View Cemtery northwest of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky and 500 yards off the west side of Hwy # 631 (Duff Raod).
