SENECA -- Ellis A. Roath, 90, Seneca, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at a Seneca hospital.

Mr. Roath worked in the industrial engineering and quality control departments for John Morrell Co. in Topeka and Ottumwa, Iowa, before retiring in 1972. He also was a county assessor for several years in Iowa.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1910, in Smith Center, to Glen and Amy Nickols Roath. He graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1929 and attended business school in Topeka. He had lived in Seneca since 1991.

He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, where he served on the trustee board for six years.

He married Nina Alexander on Nov. 8, 1936, in Seneca. She survives.

Survivors also include a son, a daughter, three sisters, Lula Sharp and Irene Boyers, both of Topeka, and Erma Lucas, in Indiana; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Popkess Mortuary, Seneca. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.
