Farragut High School assistant football coach Ryan Shoup, 40, died Thursday at a hospital in Knoxville. He was a 1988 graduate of Hixson High School.

He had been in intensive care for several weeks dealing with complications of pancreatitus.

Shoup was in his eighth season coaching special teams and running backs for the Admirals.

He was born in Chattanooga, the son of John David and Elizabeth Shoup.

He is survived by his wife, Shara S. an 11-year-old son, John Samuel "Sam" and 7-year-old daughter, Emma Grace.
