A very sweet and loving man. Always the optimist. One of his favorite sayings was.."nothing is so bad that something good can't come out of it" He told my mother this before she married my Dad. The way my parents met is interesting. My mother worked with my grandmother (my dad's mom) at Dixie Warehouse in Louisville Ky. My grandfather suffered a severe heart attack in 1960. They didn't know if was going to make it or not. My dad was in the Marine Corps at that time and was stationed somewhere overseas. The Red Cross called the USMC and got him an emergency leave to come home. My grandmother did not want to leave the hospital, so my mother went to the airport to pick up my dad. And that was how they met. My dad always said the minute he saw my mom looking for him frantically at the airport he knew right then he would marry her someday. They were married on March 18, 1961. They will be married 48 years this coming March 2009. My grandpa said God always has plans, and that if we look back we can see how they work. If he had not had the heart attack, my mother would have had no reason to meet my dad. Always trust God and let him do the work, and things will work out for the best!
