She was born August 6, 1959 in Denton to Vernon and Leah Rogers. A graduate of Big Sandy High School, she held a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.
In the capacity as registrar at the University of Texas at Tyler, she had the opportunity to work with thousands of students. She was an education enthusiast and gave herself completely in her efforts to encourage many individuals to pursue higher education. She was an active member of the American, Southern and Texas Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. She was listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, The World Who's Who of Women, nominated as International Woman of the Year and to 2000 Notable American Women. A member of the Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce, she was a charter member of the Big sandy rotary International, where she served as Rotary President for two years and on the Rotary Board of Directors for five years.
Survivors are her father, Vernon Ray Rogers of Big Sandy; a sister, JoAnn Rogers and JoAnn's fiance, Jonathan P. DeWyer.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leah B. Rogers.
Casketbearers were Jonathan P. DeWyer, The Honorable James T. Worthen, Jim Hutto, Dr. Dale Lunsford, Dr. William Stenger and Alan J. Randolph.
