Services for Mrs. Ona Lou Huckaby, 78, widow of George R. Huckaby Sr., longtime publisher of the Iowa Park Herald, who died Saturday in Wichita Falls, were Monday morning at First Christian Church.

The Rev. Clyde Markee, pastor, officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery under direction of Tanner-Aulds Funeral Home. Mrs. Huckaby, the former Ona Lou O’Dell, was born Sept. 13, 1900, in Oklahoma Territory. She spent her childhood in Hobart. Okla. where she was graduated from high school. She resided in Norman, Okla. for many years following her marriage and came to Iowa Park in 1947 from Marlow.

Her late husband owned and operated the weekly Iowa Park Herald from 1947 until his death in 1973.

She was an active member of First Christian Church where she taught a Sunday school class for many years. She was a member of the Iowa Park Lioness Club and Garden Club.

She is survived by three sons, George R. Huckaby Jr. of Iowa Park, Tom and Ben Huckaby, both of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Albert O’Dell of Stroud, Okla. and Tom O’Dell of Ada, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Peggy Danley of Norman. Okla; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were William H. Weiler, Oscar Singleton, Rollins Woodall, O.N. Newman, Wayne House and R.B. Faulkner.
