Mrs. J. S. Magor, for most of her life a resident of Hancock county and who was a pioneer here, died at her home in Chicago, Saturday evening. She had been residing in recent years with her daughter, Mrs. Naomi Faber. She was 71 years old last August.
Mrs. Magor's husband was a son of the Magor whose name became attached to Magor township when the county was platted. They were early settlers in the southwest part of the county. A large farm west of Kanawha is still known as the Magor farm. Mrs. Magor's maiden name was Gertrude Bailey and she was a sister of the late "Bailey of Britt." The only remaining member of that family is F. H. Bailey, of Los Angeles, a brother of the deceased.
The funeral service was held at the Methodist church at Kanawha Tuesday afternoon. Miss Alice Bailey, of St, Paul, and the Fillenwarth and Heacox families of Britt were in attendance. Burial was made in the Kanawha cemetery.
