CURWENSVILLE - Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. for Claude Jefferson Bloom well known Curwensville resident who died at his home at 325 George St. Thursday at 8 pm. He was 78.
The services will be from the Russell H. Lininger Funeral Home with Rev. John Allen Shearer officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Masonic memorial services will be conducted Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Bloom was born in Pike Township June 20, 1893 a son of Frank P. and Elizabeth (Nolan) Bloom.
He was a member of the Curwensville United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and trustee at various times.
He was a member and past master of the Free & Accepted Masons: ______________ of Lebanon; B.P.O. Elks; Knights of Pyhias; a director of the Curwensville Industrial Development Corp since ___ organization; and a member of the Curwensville Cemetery Association for 35 years, having served as president during the past two.
Mr. Bloom owned and operated a grocery store here for 30 years retiring in 1945. He was a justice of the peace for 22 years and a charter member of the Curwensville Municipal Authority.
He was survived by his wife, the former Christine Dale and these children: Col. John Bloom serving with the U.S. Air Force in Redlands, Calif; Richard, Clearfield; Mrs. Albert (Eva) Gillock, San Leandro, Calif.; and Thomas and Robert both of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, two great - grandchildren, a brother and two sisters; Mrs. Russell (Leah) Underwood, Chester, N.H.; Abner, Indiana, Pa.; Mrs. Charles (Rose) Sandri, Curwensville.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
