Her father was a Rail Way Mail Clerk in Vermont.
Doris came to Boulder Colorado in 1950 where she worked and trained as a registered nurse. Married Hugh Mac DeBacker ( 1928 - 1963) at the age of 32 on the 23rd of August 1953. Together they had 2 children, a son and a daughter, both still living.
Her husband only lived to be 34 years old. He passed from Cancer. They were married for 10 years in August 1963. She lived another 47 years longer, never remarried.
Doris passed on the 16th of June in the year of 2010 and is buried with her husband in Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado.
*On a side note she was a very friendly lady, who never met a stranger. I felt blessed to have known her and her children.*

Doris received her RN License at Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, Hartford CT. She worked in the OR. She also studied operating procedures at the John Hopkins Hospital in Washington D.C. Doris was a OR supervisor at New Britain Connecticut Hospital and later at a Long Island Hospital. After moving to Colorado in 1950, Doris worked for a surgeon at the Boulder Sanitarium. (Now called Mapleton Rehabilitation Center) She finished her career at the Boulder Medical Center in 1972.
