AMSTERDAM – Harold L Lockhart, 86, of Amsterdam died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Vencor Hospital in Oakdale, Pa., following a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 1, 1913, in New Castle, he was a son of the late John W. and Mary Hendrix Lockhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Chauncie.
He was a coal miner for Warner Collier's Coal Co. in Wolf Run and retired in 1980 as a school bus driver and custodian for the Edison Local School District. He was Protestant by faith and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of American and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 242.
Surviving are his wife, Estle Lockhart, whom he married June 30, 1944; two daughters, Mrs. John (Shirley) Maldonado Jr. of Steubenville and Mrs. Fred (Amy) Bean, Jr. of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Everhart Funeral Home, 287 Second St., Bergholz, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Larry Boop officiating. Entombment will be in Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Amsterdam VFW.
