Ida Behrendt

When Ida Gaffket was born on September 5, 1905, in Illinois, her father, Frank, was 31 and her mother, Frances, was 27. She married George Behrendt in 1925. She had three sons, George Jr., Robert, Dick (Richard) and one daughter, Lorraine with George William Behrendt between 1926 and 1934. She died on December 20, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 63.

Ida is survived by her husband George, sons, Richard and Robert, and her daughter, Lorraine. Her oldest son, George Jr. died in 1959.

Ida was a devout catholic. She was very faithful to her church. She was a good wife, and mother. Did the best she could in raising her children, having to spread her time between home and the hospital where their son George was for over sixteen years due to an accident when he was a young boy.

She was a meticulous house keeper, and enjoyed every minute of it. Loved feeding the birds, and making pets out of the squirrels in the yard.

She and her husband of 43 years George, enjoyed traveling and getting to know her grandchildren living in Colorado. She was a flatlander and when in Colorado, would squeal in terror on some of the mountain roads, and later she would laugh with the family about her fears. She was a very sweet and kind woman, she will be remembered and loved always by those that knew her.
