Alonzo Lee Hudgens was born to Anderson Hudgens (1832 GA) and Sarah Pruitt (1833 GA) in DeKalb County, Georgia on August 8, 1865. Alonzo Hudgens married "Miss Tinie Whaley" on December 30, 1887 in McLennan County, Texas by the Minister Samuel Morris. Levada "Tinie" Whaley was born in 1868 to Robert W. Whaley of Georgia and Eliza J. McCauley of North Carolina.

Together, Alonzo and Tinie raised six children in Texas. Their first child was Modean "Dean" Hudgens 1888-1945, then Thelma Hudgens Shopbell Stevener 1890-1966, Vera Hudgens Peel 1894-1975, John Marvin Hudgens Sr., 1895-1941, Carr B. "Jake" Hudgens 1900-1943 and Lavada Hudgens Bovey 1912-1988.

In 1900, Alonzo age 34 and his wife Tinie age 31 owned a farm in Kaufman County, Texas. They have been married for 12 years and living with them were four children, Modean 11, Thelma 10, Vera 7 and John M., 6. In 1910, Alonzo age 44 and his wife Tinie age 41 owned a farm in Jones County, Texas. They have been married for 22 years and living with them were three children, Thelma 10, Vera 17, John M. 15 and Carr B. 9. Living nearby is Modean 21 and his wife Mattie age 19.

Tinie was a caring daughter, wife, mother, home-keeper and caregiver for all of her 47 years. She died much too early of uremic poisoning (kidney failure) in 1916 at the Wichita Falls General Hospital at 3:00 pm as recorded by her doctor H.W. Swartz and her eldest child Dean Hudgens of Wichita Falls. Tinie was buried January 9 in Riverside Cemetery, Wichita Falls, without a memorial stone, and three years later, her husband Alonzo Lee Hudgens, came to rest next to her in 1919.

Alonzo L. Hudgens, a native of Texas, who came to California six months ago and who settled in Chowchilla five months ago, died at Chowchilla at the age of 54 years. He had come to California to live near his daughter Thelma "Cuter" Shopbell and her husband Edward. Alonzo Hudgens was a farmer by occupation and he leaves six children, Dean Hudgens, Thelma Hudgens Shopbell, Vera Hudgens Peel, John Marvin Hudgens, Carr B. Hudgens and Lavada Hudgens. Mr. Hudgens remains will be shipped to the former home of the deceased in Wichita County, Texas for burial.
