Flora was born to Samuel Franklin Comer and Ada Idell Tyler on 30 May 1914 in Mockerson, Lawrence, TN. Little is known about her life as a child; she eventually ended up in Birmingham AL where she married Prince Wilson Harris in 1934, Prince and Flora had two daughters together. In 1945 Flora and Prince divorced, Flora moved around a lot and eventually landed in Roswell NM, where she met and married Samuel Leland Smith in 1956. Samuel was a lifer in the U.S. Air Force and they traveled the world together before settling down in Texas, sadly Samuel died in 1980 just after retiring. Flora continued to live in Texas until she developed lung cancer at that point she moved to Seattle WA with her daughter. Flora died in Seattle, King County, Washington on 4 Oct. 1986, she was taken back to San Antonio Texas to be buried with her long time love "Smitty" in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in Section 5, grave # 428. We miss them both very much!
