Charles A. "Stub" Ray, 72, of near Bement died May 12 in Kirby Hospital where he was taken three days before. Services were conducted Friday in Roux Funeral Home in Bement with burial in Bement Cemetery.

Mr. Ray was born Dec 12, 1892 at Monticello, s/o John and Anna Schultz Ray. He was married in 1920 to Catherine Stout. Mr. Ray leaves his widow; two daughters: Mrs. Pauline Raglan, West Nyack NY and Mrs. Mary Kay Barber, Bement; four granddaughters; two brothers: John S. of Danville and Gordon of Phoenix AZ; three sisters: Mrs. Mary Furry and Mrs. Katherine Piatt of Monticello and Mrs. Doris Shotts of Galesburg. A son, Charles, was killed while serving in the Air Force in 1944.

He was a retired insurance agent and member of Bement Lions Club.
