A Note from The Virtual Wall In one of the terrible accidents of war, four Marines from A Company, 1/3rd Marines, were killed in a "blue on blue" engagement. At about 10 PM 28 Feb 1966 the 2nd and 3rd Platoons of Alpha 1/3 each sent out a squad to set ambushes at predesignated locations. Unfortunately, one squad lost its way in the darkness and encountered the other squad. Both squads believed they had encountered an enemy patrol and opened fire....... REST IN PEACE RICHARD. You deserved so much more in life.
