Mrs. Mary Brown
Tuesday morning shortly after 3 o clock death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hanka and took from it the aged mother of the latter. She was past the advanced age of 77 years and age superinduced by disease caused the passing away of her soul.
Her husband, John, proceded her about 17 years and she leaves three sons and four daughters, all with families to mourn her loss. The sons are Henry, residing in Oklahoma, Perry now of Ouray but who formerly conducted a dairy in Creede and John ranching in Antelope Park. The daughters are Mrs. Frank Hanka and Mrs. Ollie Lilley of our city, Mrs. Jane Letier residing in Oregon and Mrs. Emma Vandifort in California.
Mrs. Brown was a kind mother and devout Christian woman and was honored and respected by all who knew her.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, the services being conducted at the Congregational church, from where the remains were taken to their last resting place in the Creede cemetery followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.
The entire community extend sympathy to those who are left to mourn her loss.
