"MR. JAMES A. CLEGG DEAD: He Died Last Night After a Very Short Illness. // Mr. James A. CLEGG, aged 75 years, died at his residence, No. 9 Twenty-first street, at 7 o'clock last night after an illness of about eighteen hours of heart trouble and convulsions. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. John E. CLEGG, Mrs. Mary TILLERY and Miss Ruthie CLEGG, all of Columbus. Two brothers and five sisters survive him, as follows: Mr. E. F. [?] CLEGG, of Columbus, and Mr. John CLEGG, of Girard, Mrs. James SHAVERS, Mrs. Nancy RILEY and Mrs. Rebecca REEMS, all of Phenix City, and Mrs. Mary CAUSEY, of Avondale, Ala. // Mr. CLEGG was a member of West Side Baptist church, of Phenix City. He was a Confederate soldier, having served two months in the First Georgia regiment, and then until the close of the war in the Fifty-fourth Georgia. He was a prisoner in Camp Chase, Ohio, for eight months. Mr. CLEGG was a member of Camp Benning [of the Union of Confederate Veterans]. // The funeral will take place from the house at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. C. HURLEY."

"Mr. James A. CLEGG Buried. // The funeral of Mr. James A. CLEGG occurred at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the late residence on Twenty-first street, conducted by Rev. H. C. HURLEY. Many members of Camp Benning, of which Mr. CLEGG was a member, were in attendance on the last sad rites over the body of their dead comrade. The interment was in Girard cemetery."
