He was born in Logansport, the third child of Robert and Mary HURD and the late Edith BISH HURD. He was a 1964 graduate of Carroll High School. Bob resided in Logansport for 18 years, coming from Indianapolis. He married Sharon Elaine Burkett Oct. 13, 1968, in Rochester. She died May 24, 2003.
After graduation, with great pride, Bob served his country with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a faithful employee of Daimler-Chrysler Transmission Plant, Kokomo. He possessed an excellent work ethic and was known for his dedication to quality. Recently, he received his 35 year anniversary pin marking his years of service there.

Bob and his late wife, Sharon [HURD], established the Bully Hill Kennel. They were proud owners of champion bulldogs, usually being shown around the Midwest show circuit by Bob. He enjoyed playing cards at the Shrine Club. He loved water sports, from skiing to tubing. He looked forward to relaxing with his family and grandchildren while vacationing at nearby lakes. The times he truly cherished were those spent surrounded by his family.
