David Arthur (Butch) Mitchell, 19, of Wadsworth,was killed in action on
March 17 near Saigon. He is the son of Mrs. Ruth L. Mitchell. Mitchell was
born in Charleston, W.Va. but had lived in Wadsworth since he was one year
old. He attended Franklin and Overlook schools and Central Junior High.
After enlisting in the Army in January 1968 he received his training at Ft.
Knox, Camp Polk, and Ft. Bening. He went overseas last September and
arrived in Vietnam in October.
He attached to Co. E. 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment of the First Air
Cavalry Division.
Mitchell is survived by his mother, four brothers, and a sister. Funeral
services were held Thursday in the Hillard Funeral Home with burial in the
Woodlawn Cemetery.
