Bobo Castleberry, age 76, life long resident of Collingsworth and highly respected member of the community, died in Amarillo, Saturday, November 1, 1997.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 3, 1997 at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Johnny Tims, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma, officiating.

Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers included Mack Saied, Earl Clark, Lloyd Vines, Don Reeves, Harold Caldwell and Joe Peters.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Helm, Herbert Bearden and the Men's Adult IV Sunday School Class.

Born April 14, 1921 in Wellington to J.B. and Bennie Bobo Castleberry, he attended Wellington Schools, graduating from Wellington High School in 1937 and University of Texas, Austin in 1941.

Bobo served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge.

Following the war, Bobo joined his father in Castleberry Motor Co., where he remained until 1960. On November 16, 1950, he married Billye Tenison in Wellington. She died in 1991.

He was a life insurance agent for Great Southern Life and in 1968, he and Henry Sullivan purchased White Insurance Agency and changed the name to 1st Wellington Agency. He added 1st Wellington Real Estate several years later.

He was a member of the Wellington Masonic Lodge, the First Baptist Church and had served on the Wellington City Council and was a former member of the Wellington Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Betsy Lemons of Wellington, Suzy Salle of Rockwall and Kim Reeves of Amarillo and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
