Isabelle was the second of four daughters born to John & Elizabeth (Braun) Schindler.

On 14 June 1952, Isabelle married James Allen Atkinson at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Saint Cloud, MN; she was age 33, he was 37. Born 1 December 1914 at Bird Island, MN; James was the fifth of six children born to Louis A. & Lucy M. (McLaughlin) Atkinson.

A homemaker & mother of four who also worked outside the home as a bookkeeper, Isabelle died at age 88.

From her 15 December 2006 obituary in The Brainerd Daily Dispatch: "Isabelle grew up in central Minnesota and graduated from Melrose High School in 1937. After high school, Isabelle attended the St. Cloud Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in central Minnesota and in Washington, D.C.

"Isabelle & James made their home in Little Falls, MN. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and St. Mary's Mission Circle. She enjoyed raising indoor plants, cooking, baking, spending time with her family, playing cards and was a member of several card clubs."
