DEATHS

Ernest Brown, 55, former alderman on the Houston city council, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 30, while at work at his trade as carpenter and cabinet maker. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

The son of Reo and Ida May Brown, Ernest was born near
Houston April 18. 1904. He attended school at Pine Ridge, then spent several years in the west. After his return to
Houston he and Sarah Harris were married May 31, 1932.
They have lived in Houston since that time except for a year in Kansas and a short time in St. Louis. Mr. Brown worked for many years with John Parker, under whom he received training as carpenter and cabinet maker. Since Parker's retirement, he had continued in the construction business and has worked on many homes here and in several business buildings.

For many years, Mr. Brown retained his membership in the
Bucyrus Baptist Church where he became a member while in his teens. However, he and Mrs. Brown had attended Central
Baptist Church in recent years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his 86-year-old mother; two brothers, Doyle of Houston and Marshall of Fayette, Idaho; two sisters, Florence Harris (Mrs. Thurman Harris) of Houston and Gladys Waller of Spokane, Wash., and other relatives, including several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Kirby Fletcher who was assisted by the Rev. Jewell Cochran, were held in the Elliott Chapel Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4. Burial in Pine Lawn cemetery was under the direction of Elliott's of Houston.
